Purchasing Atlassian Cloud

Overview

1. How much is an Atlassian Cloud subscription?

We offer a la carte pricing for Atlassian Cloud. Your subscription starts with JIRA Core, JIRA Software, JIRA Service Desk or Confluence as its foundation. From there, you can choose from available add-ons (e.g. Capture of JIRA) and additional applications.

JIRA Software

Note that JIRA Service Desk is priced by the agent. What's the difference between an agent and a JIRA user?

  • JIRA Service Desk agents work on requests and respond to customers. JIRA Service Desk is a stand alone application and does not consume a JIRA Software user.
  • JIRA users collaborate with agents and can add internal comments on customer requests.
  • For more details on what each role can do, please see agent and collaborator.

2. What is the minimum/maximum subscription period?

The minimum term of service is one month. You can choose to renew on a month by month and cancel anytime to discontinue the service when the current billing term ends.

The maximum term of service is one annual period (12 months), multiple year subscriptions are not available.

Please note, Bitbucket Cloud is only sold as a monthly subscription.

3. What are the Terms of Service?

Use of Atlassian Cloud is governed under the Atlassian Customer Agreement and Service Specific Terms.

4. Can we make changes to the Terms of Service?

Within Atlassian's current price structure, we're unable to make any changes to the Atlassian Customer Agreement. If you consider our pricing model and the costs of creating and managing individual agreements with each of our customers, you can begin to understand our position.

Maintaining a standard Customer Agreement with all of our customers allows us to focus our resources on meeting our obligations under these agreements. Do keep in mind of course that our Customer Agreement has been very carefully authored to be fair to both you and us.

5. Where can I view/download quotes or paid invoices?

The primary billing and technical contacts listed on a quote or invoice can retrieve them from their My Atlassian account.

  1. Log into your My Atlassian account and click the Orders tab in the navigation bar.
  2. All quotes and invoices associated with your account are in this section.
  3. In the "Quotes" tab you can download a PDF quote or invoice, make credit card payment, Update PO# or delete the quote.
  4. In the "Orders" tab you can see an order's details by clicking on the '+' and download a PDF of the paid invoice.

Please note: you can only access the orders where you are listed as the technical or billing contact.

6. How are add-ons licensed?

Add-on licenses match the licensing tier of the parent product. JIRA add-on licenses match the highest applicable JIRA licensing tier. The highest applicable JIRA licensing tier is selected on the basis of the highest number of users that you have licensed across all of your JIRA products.

For example, let’s say that you have JIRA Software that is licensed for up to 10 users and JIRA Service Desk that is licensed for 16 agents, and you want to add the Capture for JIRA add-on. The add-on will be billed for up to 25 users, because that is the closest user tier to the highest applicable JIRA licensing tier (selected in this case on the basis of the 16 agents you have for JIRA Service Desk). This is regardless of how many users need access to the add-on.

Monthly Subscriptions

1. Who is notified about changes to my subscription?

The billing contacts listed in the my.atlassian.com site will be emailed a preview of your bill 3 days before the end of your billing cycle. Your site administrators can always remove users or application access prior to the renewal date to maintain your current user tier.

2. Is MyAtlassian or Atlassian Store needed when I want to upgrade the user tier or add applications/add-ons?

No, most of your purchasing and evaluation tasks will be done from the within your Atlassian Cloud site.

3. What payment options are available for monthly subscriptions?

To ensure timely payment for monthly subscriptions, we can only accept payment by credit card associated with the subscription.  The credit card on file can be updated by any billing or technical contact from their My Atlassian account.

4. How do I update the credit card on file?

Any billing or technical contact of an Atlassian Cloud subscription can update the credit card for the subscription. To update the credit card, please follow the instructions below:

  1. Log into My Atlassian. You'll arrive on the Licenses page by default.
  2. Click the '+' sign for your Atlassian Cloud instance. The account management pane will now display.
  3. In the Credit Card section, click Edit Credit Card to the right of the current card details. Enter the new card details then save the changes.

The new card will be charged on the next billing date.

5. My VISA debit card is showing two transactions, it looks like I was double charged

When possible, we recommend customers do not use Visa debit cards. This is because debit cards place an authorization hold on funds (making them unavailable) for the amount of the purchase. Atlassian settles the transaction immediately (known as "settlement"), but the authorization hold can remain from 1-5 days until it "falls off" depending on Visa's and your bank's policies.

If the funds are not made available 5 days after the transaction, we recommend contacting your bank to see when the authorization hold will drop off.

Annual Subscriptions

1. How do I get quote for the annual payment plan?

At this time, it is not possible to change your user tier or purchase new applications through your My Atlassian account or within your Atlassian Cloud site. Please Contact Us to upgrade your user tier or purchase new applications.

Please note that while Site Administrators can add users and trial new applications under an annual subscription plan, there is no commitment to purchase at the end of the trial, so you won't be billed for it automatically.

2. What payment options are available for annual subscriptions?

Payment can be be made by bank transfer, mailed check or credit card, complete payment details appear on the first page of an official quote and on our How to pay page.
