Cloud Migration Discount FAQ


Server and Data Center customers who are moving to a 1,001+ user Cloud license are eligible for a loyalty discount when migrating Jira Software, Jira Service Desk, Jira Core, and/or Confluence. This applies to both Standard and Premium cloud subscription plans, and is intended to make it as easy as possible for existing on-premises customers to receive the benefits of moving to the cloud.

Note: This is a limited time promotional offer for customers who have purchased a Server or Data Center license before October 3rd, 2019. The on-premises license must be migrated using an extended cloud trial, and still be under active maintenance or subscription in order to receive the promotional offer. Any discounts offered under this promotional offer are only applicable for cloud annual subscription of 1,001 users or above.

Although Atlassian does not disclose future pricing plans until they become generally available, we understand our Enterprise customers may need a 3-year horizon for planning and/or budgeting purposes. As such, Atlassian is committed* to providing the following discount structure for those qualifying customers through June 2022:

  • For annual cloud subscription purchases prior to June 2020: 55% discount from then-current published list price;
  • For annual cloud subscription renewals prior to June 2021: 40% discount from then-current published list price; and
  • For annual cloud subscription renewals prior to June 2022: 20% discount from then-current published list price

Are non-Atlassian Marketplace apps included in the extended cloud trial license offer? Show

Not at this time. Customers are welcome to add non-Atlassian Marketplace Apps to their free extended trial sites, however, regular pricing will apply. Customers who wish to add Marketplace products to their site will need to enter payment details and will be charged monthly.

Is this offer available on the monthly subscription plan? Show

No, this offer is only available on our annual pricing plans.

Can I get my academic or community license discount on top of the migration loyalty discount? Show

No, this offer is only for non-academic and non-community licenses.

Can I receive a further discount for my remaining server/Data Center maintenance on my Atlassian Cloud site because I migrated early? Show

We offer a further discount for the first year of an annual Cloud subscription based on the calculation of up to equivalent maximum of 12-month server/Data Center maintenance.

Can I trial the Cloud product before I commit to migrating? Show

Yes, in fact, it is required to receive the migration loyalty discount. We offer server and Data Center customers extended cloud trial licenses for the remainder of the software maintenance of your behind the firewall license. To learn more, visit https://www.atlassian.com/get-cloud

  1. Log in to my.atlassian.com
  2. Locate the server/Data Center license you want to start a trial (expand the license details panel if not fully visible)
  3. Below the product history section, locate the Extended cloud trial offer box
  4. Review the offer details and click “Start my trial”
Can I trial Cloud Standard and Premium? Can I change editions during the trial? Show

Yes, when you create the Extended trial offer, the site will start with Cloud Standard. You can change the product edition from Administration → Billing → Manage Subscriptions. You can change editions at any time, and as many times you wish during the trial.

Can I continue to run my server/Data Center instance after I’ve migrated to the Cloud service? Show

Once you migrate and make payment on your Atlassian Cloud site, your cloud instance will begin its subscription and server/Data Center license(s) renewal status is updated to "not renew". Your server installed keys are perpetual so that you will have access to them forever but the software maintenance will not be renewed.

Can I get this (migration loyalty discount) pricing if I want to start a new Cloud site not associated with a server/Data Center migration? Show

No, this special discount can only be applied to when migrating from a server/Data Center product to an Atlassian Cloud subscription. Any additional Atlassian Cloud sites will be at current list prices.

Renewals & Upgrades

If I upgrade editions or user tiers, what pricing will I expect? How will my future renewals be effected? Show

The discount will apply to the upgraded tier.

Can I lock my cost by purchasing additional subscription years upfront? Show

At the moment the maximum you can purchase is a 1-year subscription.

What happens if as an annual customer I need to downgrade my edition/user tier, will I get a refund/credit? Show

You can schedule an edition downgrade at any time from the Manage Subscriptions page in your Atlassian Cloud site; the downgrade will take effect at the next renewal. At the next renewal, you can also reduce user/agent tiers. Refunds for Atlassian Cloud annual subscriptions are available within 30 days of payment, after 30 days we cannot offer refunds.
