Important changes to our server and Data Center products
We’re making changes to our server and Data Center products, including the end of sale for new server licenses on February 2, 2021 and the end of support for server on February 2, 2024. Learn what this means for you.

Future server pricing

Overview

As we recently announced, the sale of new server licenses ends February 2, 2021 PT, but customers have the option to renew their maintenance until February 2, 2024 PT.

We’re increasing the price of maintenance for certain server products as outlined on this page. This ensures ongoing platform security and support. Any increases are effective February 2, 2021 PT.

Detailed pricing tables are viewable by product and broken into user tiers. If you'd like to speak with us, please contact our support team.

New maintenance prices

Advantaged price increases

The last time we increased prices, we decided to not pass on the entire increase to the customers who had purchased prior to that day. The increase was broken into multiple increments to gradually bring customers up to the list price in subsequent years. These customers will see a price increase because the advantaged price has risen another increment.

If your last renewal cost less than the prices in these tables, you have advantaged pricing. Technical and billing contacts can confirm this on my.atlassian.com.

Please note, the list price for maintenance isn’t changing for the server products below. Customers who already pay the list price won’t see an increase. Similarly, customers who have Starter licenses won't see an increase.

List price increases

The list price for maintenance is increasing for the server products below. All commercial and Academic licenses, except Starter licenses, will receive an increase.

General questions

Am I impacted by these price increases and when do they take effect? Show

Your price changes will vary depending on the server products you license and when your server license was purchased. Please note, Server Starter license prices are not changing.

If you own Jira Software Server, Jira Core Server, or Confluence Server and you initially purchased or were quoted for a new server license:

  • Before October 3, 2019 PT: You are on an advantaged pricing plan that is currently lower than Atlassian list prices. You will receive a price increase on any quotes raised on or after February 2, 2021 PT. Please see our pricing tables for more details.
  • On or after October 3, 2019 PT: You are paying Atlassian list prices and will not be impacted by this price change.

If you own Bitbucket Server, Bamboo Server, Crowd Server, Jira Service Management Server (formerly known as Jira Service Desk Server), Advanced Roadmaps Server, Team Calendars Server, or Questions for Confluence Server:

  • You will receive an increase effective on renewals on or after February 2, 2021 PT. Please see our pricing tables for more details.

If you own Fisheye or Crucible:

  • You will not be affected by this price change.
Are Marketplace Partner app prices changing? Show

Pricing for Marketplace Partner apps (or non-Atlassian third-party apps) is not changing as a direct result of Atlassian's price changes. However, Atlassian does not have any control over Marketplace Partner app pricing and therefore prices are subject to change. Please check the Marketplace for up-to-date app pricing information.

Can I still upgrade my Server Starter licenses? Show

Moving from a Server Starter license to a commercial license is considered a new sale, which means that as of February 2, 2021 PT (the end of new license sales), you are no longer able to upgrade to a 10+ user license. If more users are required, you will need to purchase a new cloud or Data Center subscription.

In cloud, we offer free plans that give you exactly what you need to hit the ground running and grow at your own pace. For customers on Starter licenses, these are a great option to consider moving to using our free cloud migration assistants and migration resources.

Why are you increasing the prices of server maintenance? Show

These price increases will ensure the security and maintenance of our server platform while we invest in making sure the migration path to cloud is seamless and your experience when you get there is unparalleled. When you’re ready to take that step to cloud, we offer a free cloud migration trial that matches your server or Data Center maintenance and user tier (up to 12 months and 10,000 users).

We're here to make sure you have the support and resources you need. Our website outlines all the changes and what to do next.

What licensing changes are happening? Show

Effective February 2, 2021 PT, you will not be able to purchase any new server licenses (Starter, Commercial, Academic, Community, or Open Source) for Jira Software, Jira Service Management (formerly known as Jira Service Desk), Confluence, Bitbucket, and Crowd.

  • You will not be able to upgrade your Server Starter license to a higher user tier. We recommend that existing Server Starter customers explore our free cloud plans.
  • Exception: You will still be able to purchase new licenses for Fisheye and Crucible. You will still be able to purchase new licenses for Bamboo Server until further notice.

Effective February 2, 2022 PT, you will not be able to upgrade or downgrade user tiers for your server licenses (Commercial, Academic, Community, or Open Source).

  • If you need to upgrade your user tier on or after February 2, 2022 PT, we recommend you migrate to our cloud or Data Center products.
  • Exception: You will still be able to upgrade or downgrade user tiers for Fisheye and Crucible. You will still be able to upgrade or downgrade Bamboo Server until further notice.
What are my options? Show
  • Option 1: Sign up for your free cloud migration trial. We are offering all server customers the ability to explore, evaluate, and migrate to cloud for free for the remainder of your server maintenance (max 12 months and 10,000 users). Learn more about our free cloud migration trials.
  • Option 2: Leverage our loyalty discounts to move to cloud or Data Center. To ease the transition to cloud or Data Center, we offer existing server customers discounts on 12- and 24-month subscriptions
  • Option 3: Renew on server early and lock in your existing price. Your server maintenance price will depend on the date you create a renewal, upgrade, or downgrade quote:
    • Before February 2, 2021 PT: If the expiration date of your existing server maintenance is after February 2, 2021 PT, you can create a renewal, upgrade, or downgrade quote before February 1, 2021 PT based on your existing pricing.
    • On or after February 2, 2021 PT: If you are quoted for renewal on or after February 2, 2021 PT, you will pay the new pricing.
Will there be more price increases in the future? Show

We do not make any commitments about changes to our pricing that may or may not occur in the future. As a business, we regularly evaluate our pricing and value to our customers relative to the market. Future pricing adjustments, if they occur, will be reflective of our continued investment in making your migration to cloud more seamless.

What discount changes are happening? Show

We are updating the eligibility dates and discount schedule for our cloud loyalty discount to give you more time to take advantage of this offer.

Billing & licensing questions

Do I have to pay the new list price next time I renew? Show

If you have an existing server license, you will receive a moderate increase on your next annual renewal to help ease you into Atlassian list prices. Please visit our pricing tables for more details.

What if I have an open quote (renewal, upgrade, or downgrade) with existing pricing? Show
  • If your quote is created before February 2, 2021 PT, the pricing listed on your quote will be honored until its expiry date.
  • If your quote is edited on or after February 2, 2021 PT, then the entire quote will be recalculated to reflect the new pricing.
  • If your quote is deleted on or after February 2, 2021 PT, it will not be restored and you will need to pay the new pricing.
How long can I lock in my current pricing? Show

You can create a quote for a 12 or 24-month term. However, your server maintenance cannot expire beyond February 1, 2024 PT.

How can I renew my server maintenance subscription early? Show

Renew or request a quote here. Select the licenses you want to renew maintenance for and add them to your cart, then check out. You also have the option to request a quote.

If my maintenance expires before I renew, will I have to pay the new price? Show

Yes, if you renew at a later date, you will pay the new price and your maintenance end date will align with your previous expiration date.

For example, if you have server maintenance that expires on January 31, 2021, but don’t renew until March 31, 2021,  your 12-month maintenance contract will end on January 31, 2022 (not March 31, 2022).

What about Academic, Community, and Open Source licenses? Show

Pricing

As with our commercial server licenses, our discounted Academic license prices will increase. To calculate your new server Academic license price, take the new prices on our pricing tables and reduce them by 50%. Community and Open Source server licenses will continue to be free.

  • Cloud: Atlassian offers our cloud products for free to the Open Source community.
Will there still be an upgrade credit available for server customers upgrading to Data Center? Show

Effective February 2, 2021 PT, we will stop offering server to Data Center upgrade credits, and replace them with our Data Center loyalty discount which provides existing server customers a multi-year discount when upgrading from server to Data Center.
