Crucible Licensing and Purchasing

Our FAQ contains the most frequently asked questions relating to our licensing and pricing. Of course, if you would like to talk to us directly, please contact our Sales Team.

Server Licenses

1. What does a new Crucible license cost?

We believe the Crucible licensing scheme is simple, upfront and equitable. Our software licenses entitle you to perpetual use, and include 12 months of software maintenance (updates/technical support) commencing from the date payment is processed. Renewing your maintenance is entirely optional.

If using Crucible along with FishEye (in all cases), your FishEye license must have an equal or greater number of users in order to be compatible with Crucible.

2001+ Users US $20,000 US $10,000

*The Crucible Starter will work with both Starter and commercial FishEye installations and will mirror FishEye's repository restrictions (e.g. if working with a FishEye Starter with limited repos, Crucible will only support that number of repos; if commercial FishEye then there will be no repo number restrictions)

2. How much is it to renew my Crucible software maintenance?

All non-free licenses come with 12 months of software maintenance (support and product updates). Beyond this initial 12 month period, you may renew your software maintenance for a further 12 months* at our discounted renewal prices.

The software maintenance of a Crucible license must be renewed with an equivalent FishEye license software maintenance renewal.

3. What is the cost to upgrade my Crucible license to a higher user tier?

You will be pleased to know that you can upgrade Crucible at any time. All data is seamlessly upgraded and all upgrades include 12 months of software maintenance commencing from the date payment is processed. This will override any existing maintenance period.

A Crucible license upgrade must be purchased with an equivalent FishEye license upgrade. FishEye licenses (in all cases) must have an equal or greater number of users in order to be compatible with Crucible.

4. How do I request a quote?

Requesting an obligation-free quote is easy! You will just need to submit your request through our Atlassian Store. In the final step check "Get a Quote" and click submit. Only quotes submitted though our online form are considered valid, screen prints of the shopping cart is not the same as a quote.

5. How do you define a Crucible User?

A Crucible user is by definition any user account in the Crucible system with the 'use' permission, i.e. anyone who can view the site while logged in. Unlimited 'anonymous users' are permitted on all licenses.

6. How is Crucible licensed?

A Crucible commercial/academic/starterlicense entitles you to:

  • Deploy a single instance of Crucible in a production environment accessible by the number of users licensed
  • Perpetual Crucible use
  • Software maintenance for 12 months — including all updates and online support (from Sydney, Australia and San Francisco, USA during local business hours)
  • JSP source code (under a developer source license which allows for broad customisation)

Note: Full source is not available due to embedded code Atlassian cannot expose.

Licensing fees are quoted per total number of 'Crucible users'. A Crucible user is by definition any user account in the Crucible system with the 'use' permission, i.e. anyone who can view the site while logged in. Unlimited 'anonymous users' are permitted on all licenses.

An academic license is available for qualified educational and academic institutions (learn more).

Please read the Customer Agreement for more details.

7. What about Cloud subscriptions?

As of October 2013, we have retired FishEye & Crucible Cloud. We apologize for the inconvenience this may cause to potential customers.
