Your future team

The Growth team drives Atlassian forward by improving customer experiences across all of our products with experimentation built on top of a data-driven mindset. This role will work with our teams helping customers see the value of how our products work better together and driving integration adoption for better team collaboration.

As a Senior Principal Software Engineer you will report to the Engineering leader responsible for all expansion initiatives within our Growth organization. Here, you'll work with teams across all of Atlassian and directly influence an organization of ~50 engineers. Also partnering cross-functionally with product, strategy, design, legal, and finance will be common.

What you'll do

  • Combine product, business, customers, and deep engineering knowledge to help the team build simple solutions to complicated problems

  • Ensure that excellent operational and engineering health is maintained across our systems and experiments

  • Introduce and improve adoption of new technologies and experimentation best practices from across the industry

  • Work with architects across Atlassian to align technical strategies and understand the needs of our platform consumers.

  • Partner with leadership, stakeholders, cross-functional teams to connect technical approach with business needs and strategic direction

Your background

  • Experience working in an experimentation and data-driven environment.

  • Experience with SaaS, PaaS, IaaS with hands-on experience of one or more public cloud offerings (AWS)

  • 10+ years of experience building software, with 4+ years implementing high-volume, low-latency distributed systems

  • You see the interactions between technical decisions, people and process on a long timescale. Past management experience would help you with this but isn't essential.

To support this goal, the baseline of our range is higher than that of the typical market range, but in turn we expect to hire most candidates near this baseline. Base pay within the range is ultimately determined by a candidate's skills, expertise, or experience.

In the United States, we have three geographic pay zones. For this role, our current base pay ranges for new hires in each zone are:

Zone A: $239,000 - $318,600

Zone B: $215,100 - $286,800

Zone C: $198,400 - $264,500

This role may also be eligible for benefits, bonuses, commissions, and equity.
