Senior Data Scientist, Customer Analytics

Apply for this job

Does the challenge of scaling a fast-growing company by empowering it with data and analytical insight excite you? Using your business instincts, analytics mastery and creativity, you will support a market-leading product, from analysis through to action. If you love finding patterns amidst chaos, making quick decisions, and aren’t afraid of being wrong, this could be a great fit!

You have a proven track record of delivering analyses leading to product or business strategy insights. You develop strong and trusted relationships with product executives and use your communication skills to change the way your partners approach problems, and influence product roadmaps. You are passionate driving your learning and growth in a dynamic, fast-paced environment.

At Atlassian, we strive to design equitable, explainable, and competitive compensation programs. To support this goal, the baseline of our range is higher than that of the typical market range, but in turn we expect to hire most candidates near this baseline. Base pay within the range is ultimately determined by a candidate's skills, expertise, or experience. In the United States, we have three geographic pay zones. For this role, our current base pay ranges for new hires in each zone are:

Zone A: $175,100 - $233,400

Zone B: $157,600 - $210,100

Zone C: $145,300 - $193,800

This role may also be eligible for benefits, bonuses, commissions, and equity.

Please visit for more information on which locations are included in each of our geographic pay zones. However, please confirm the zone for your specific location with your recruiter.

In this role, you will work closely with varying crafts across our Enterprise org to ensure our customers are having a global experience across our products. This includes understanding general onboarding, diving into user engagement across products from a centralized starting point, homepage experimentation, and adoption of key features that are shared amongst different products.

You will work with PMs to prioritize and define success; be a thought leader to your squad; and build relationships with PMs, PGMs, Engineers, Researchers, Designers, Data Engineers, and other Data Science teams.
You will often use imperfect data to influence strategic company decisions under tight timelines. This is a role that will stretch you, accelerate your learning curve and give you the chance to really leave your mark in the history of Atlassian.

On your first day, we'd expect you to have:

  • Strong sense of accountability, self-drive, and the ability to function independently

  • Extensive experience in analytics, statistics or closely related fields

  • Proficiency in SQL and expertise in Python / R

  • A strong intuition for crafting raw data and analysis into well-written and persuasive content

  • The ability to prioritise your time wisely against multiple competing projects and requests

  • Experience translating insights into decisions and actions that have a direct business impact

It's great, but not required, if you have:

  • Experience in both enterprise (or B2B) as well as consumer (or B2C) environments

  • Track record of presenting at meet-ups and conferences

  • MS, MBA or PhD degree in a relevant topic
