This post is part of a series on Atlassian HackHouse 2014, where graduate developers spend a week with Atlassian mentors hacking code and learning about the world of software development.
It’s back: we’re sending our new grads to HackHouse for a week of coding at the beach!
This week marks the beginning of 2014’s HackHouse, our unique accelerated on-boarding program for new hires from around the world who are joining our Sydney office. This year’s kick-ass class of 18 – more than three times the size of last year’s graduate program – will spend the week ensconced in two beach houses for an induction crash course led by a group of Atlassian engineers and designers. Along with training and mentorship, the grads will enjoy outdoor bonding activities, work on some of our world-class products, and build products to be sold in the Atlassian Marketplace.
We’ll also challenge them to ship their first feature or add-on by day five in a special ShipIt – our renowned quarterly innovation event during which employees are given 24 hours to build an add-on, an update, or a feature to an existing Atlassian product. They’ll get to present their projects to our Sydney office at the end of the week.
“Attending Atlassian HackHouse was a highlight of 2013, with my favorite aspect being the bonding experience I had with the other grads,” said Alice Wang, a current Atlassian developer and HackHouse 2013 grad. “It immediately immersed us into Atlassian’s inspiring and playful culture, and helped us instantly feel like a part of the Atlassian family. It was an amazing opportunity to get to know and learn from some of Atlassian’s top talent, including the founders, and it kickstarted our careers here with a fiery passion to pursue great things at Atlassian.”
Get in on the excitement, join the discussion, and follow this week’s activities to find out what sets Atlassian’s 2014 HackHouse apart from other on-boarding programs: Visit our HackHouse live feed or our Facebook page.
Interested graduates or students finishing a degree in computer science or software engineering are encouraged to apply here for upcoming graduate and intern programs. All other candidates are encouraged to visit Atlassian’s careers page to learn more and apply for other openings. You can also follow Atlassian on Twitter and like us on Facebook.
