Things got off to a typically chilly San Francisco morning, but turned into an unusual and welcome warm afternoon. Atlassian Summit 2012 is officially underway. Due to the popularity of this year’s training workshops, we moved training to the Hilton Union Square to make room for the 400 participants.

This year’s training courses included everything from Jira Fundamentals to Automated Testing Bamboo, to Git/DVCS training.

After training, everyone headed over to the Design Concourse to register, get their conference survival kits (ie, awesome swag), and mingle at the Industry Mixer and the Welcome Reception. The venue was packed with people, and Summit’s 35 sponsor booths were mobbed (favorite quote from one of the sponsors, “I wasn’t expecting it to be so busy tonight at our booth.”) with attendees looking at the latest plugins and add-ons to Atlassian products. Food service ended at 8pm, but conversations lasted nearly another 2 hours until the Concourse staff shut off the lights.

Then it was over to the Mars Bar for the Gangplanks and Grog party sponsored by Gliffy. Lines were out the door, but when people finally got inside they partied like plundering pirates.
