Over the last six months, we’ve been evolving Jira for AI-native work – building the infrastructure for agents to act on work, shipping new MCP capabilities so coding agents can take more actions in Jira, and making Teamwork Graph CLI generally available to ensure agents have the enterprise-scale context they need to work effectively.
Today, we’re announcing our Jira Summer Release: 15 new capabilities that make the everyday parts of Jira faster, simpler, and more powerful for both teams and agents. These features are rolling out now and will be generally available across Jira Cloud by the end of August 2026. Let’s take a look at some of the highlights.
AI and agents that do real work
Jira’s AI agents are now more proactive – surfacing insights, creating updates, and taking on the recurring coordination work so you can focus on what matters most.
Let an agent run your recurring coordination work
The new Delivery Agent automates coordination tasks teams used to do manually: health checks, standup digests, and stakeholder updates. Use the automation templates in the Jira Summary view to set it up in seconds.
Describe what you need and get a ready-to-use space
Instead of configuring a space from scratch, describe the way your team works in natural language – or attach context you already have, like Confluence pages, Looms, decks, or images – and Rovo generates a full space with workflows, work types, views, and suggested first work items.
Core views rebuilt
The views your team lives in every day have been rebuilt on a shared modern foundation. They’re significantly faster – work items load 45% faster, lists and search are 48% faster, and boards and backlogs are up to 22% faster – and also have consistent behavior between software and business spaces, with features like swimlanes, subtask visibility, and inline editing that work the same everywhere.
List and All Work, merged into one
List and All Work have been combined into a single view called List that has the best of both. Search with Jira Query or natural language, see parent/child hierarchy, edit inline, and save custom views – all in one place instead of two views doing similar things.
Boards that keep up with your team
The software board in team-managed spaces has been rebuilt. Faster loads, swimlanes, subtasks on cards, inline editing, and no more work item caps. Your workflows stay the same; the board underneath them is just significantly better.
Plan smarter, automatically
Teams shouldn’t have to leave Jira to answer questions like “who’s overloaded?” or “how is this deadline tracking?” Now the numbers live right alongside the work and Jira does the math for you.
See where your team’s time is actually going
A new Capacity view shows how work is allocated across your team, who has room, and who’s overloaded. The backlog sits right next to the numbers, so you can rebalance without switching tools.
Build the calculations you need
Formula fields let you create fields that calculate values: remaining budget, days to deadline, weighted priority scores. Describe what you want in plain language and Rovo writes the formula. Results are searchable, sortable, and live where the work lives.
