In 2020, driven by our mission to create a world-class Cloud experience, we made the strategic decision to discontinue support for server products starting February 15, 2024. After this date, Atlassian and Marketplace partners will no longer provide technical support, security updates, or bug fixes for vulnerabilities on server products or apps. So the time to act is now — unsupported software puts your organization at risk.

Work smarter and stay secure by migrating to Cloud

Over the last 3 years, we have fortified Atlassian’s Cloud to meet the needs of most customers and go beyond them. Atlassian’s cloud allows teams to work faster, smarter, and stronger, together. You don’t have to just take our word for it – 250,000 customers are using our world-class Cloud platform today and here are some things they say;

  • Inspired collaboration: 47% of customers reported their move to Cloud led to improvement in cross-functional collaboration
  • Decision-making smarts: 44% of customers reported improvement in the ability to quickly make insight-driven decisions
  • Productivity unleashed: According to Forrester, migrated customers see a 20% productivity boost for developers
  • Strategic IT impact: According to Forrester, migrated customers see 50% of IT time reallocated to more impactful work

“With data centers, we had to maintain a big team that was only checking networks, seeing if servers were running, installing updates, checking availability, things like that. With Atlassian cloud, everything regarding server maintenance is done for us, and there’s less downtime and better performance.”Mercedes-Benz

“We were able to eliminate unnecessary data, reduce time spent on version control, and leverage IP permission functions through the transition from an on-premise server to cloud…resulting in enhanced security and efficiency and leading to increased satisfaction among users and administrators within the Atlassian platform.” – Interpark

What value have we added to the cloud? The list is too long to go into, but you can find it in our cloud roadmap. To get you started, here is some amazing functionality we have just recently added:

  • Decrease meeting load and improve shared context by seamlessly embedding Loom videos in Confluence.
  • Service internal and external customers effectively with AI-powered virtual agents in Jira Service Management.
  • Evolve from thinking about projects to innovating new products with Jira Product Discovery (now GA).
  • Operate complex technology architectures seamlessly with another new product Compass (now GA).
  • Manage data challenges around security and compliance, inventory and billing, forecasting and planning, and much more in a single place with Airtrack, soon to be integrated with Jira Service Management.

Beyond this, you’ll find that in the past year, we’ve more than doubled our scale, expanded coverage of data residency to eight new regions, added proactive shadow IT controls with product requests, BYOK encryption and a new privacy and security tab in Marketplace. To learn more about safeguarding your data in cloud, you can check out this whitepaper. We are committed to continuous improvement, ensuring that Cloud can continue to meet your requirements long into the future.

Ready to move to Cloud? Here’s what you’ll want to do next

To take the first step, visit Atlassian Migration Program, the one-stop-shop for critical resources and learnings for migrators. There you can get the tools, support, guidance, and promotions you need to migrate with confidence. We also continue to share ongoing updates and Community articles.

However, if you haven’t checked these out yet, here’s a cheat sheet for how to do this. Based on the number of users, customizations, and apps that you are migrating pick one of the two paths below.

Simple cloud migration :right_arrow: Migrate to Cloud before Feb. 15

(<1,000 users, 1-6 apps, and <100 custom fields)

Complex cloud migration :right_arrow: Migrate to Cloud with a dual license

(>1,000 users, 6+ apps, and 100+ custom fields)

:checkbox-blue: Reach out to our team to take advantage of dual licensing.

To give you time to complete your migration and avoid double paying for your Cloud subscription and Server license, we offer dual licensing with the purchase of an annual Cloud subscription. From September 12, 2023, if you purchase an annual Cloud subscription before February 15, 2024, Atlassian & participating Marketplace partners will offer up to one year of Server support. This ensures that you won’t introduce security risks by remaining on Server during your migration journey.

Unable to move to Cloud? Move to Data Center in minutes

For those unable to move to Cloud for now, upgrading to Data Center provides enterprise customers with secure, high-performing, and user-friendly software. Data Center offers dozens of enterprise-grade features not available on Server, such as advanced auditing, rate limiting, and rolling and zero-downtime upgrades. And you can easily upgrade in minutes on the same architecture you’re currently using on Server with a single-node deployment option.
