What’s new for Strategic Portfolio Management

Strategy Collection delivers continuous innovation to our customers all year long (see the Atlassian Cloud Roadmap for Strategy Collection →). Three times a year, we take a moment to highlight the latest through our Innovation Spotlight: a summary of the capabilities delivered across apps and platform, all live and in our customers’ hands as of February 2026. This Innovation Spotlight highlights new Strategic Portfolio Management (SPM) capabilities across four key business needs:

  1. Portfolio health monitoring to catch problems before they become crises.
  2. Strategic alignment to connect your people and costs to your priorities.
  3. Goal measurement to run reviews on real data instead of slides.
  4. Enterprise operating model improvements to scale adoption, easier than ever.

Read on for how to get started.

Portfolio health monitoring: See what’s true

Portfolio health monitoring means knowing the real status of your biggest bets without waiting for someone to tell you. Strategy gets lost when signals are scattered. Leaders are asked to steer top priorities with tighter budgets and higher scrutiny. So they chase status across tools, spreadsheets, and slide decks.

Instead, these updates give portfolio leaders earlier, more credible health signals so they can move from rearview reports to proactive interventions.

Focus: Custom fields. Setup your organization structure and KPIs without waiting on schema changes. Custom fields are now available for focus areas, visible in tables, views, and Atlassian Analytics for slicing and reporting. Richer status semantics mean earlier, clearer signals about what’s actually happening.

Focus: Enhanced tables. Multi-sort, group, freeze, reorder, inline edit, and progress bars. Think of it as a spreadsheet, but live, and connected to your actual strategy data. Analyze it instantly, without exporting anything.

Focus: Rolled-up work visualizations. See all epics and issues under each focus area, with flexible filtering and grouping in the work tab. One place to see all work tied to your biggest bets, and no more chasing status updates or debating status in meetings.

Jira Align: Epic and feature grid enhancements. Modernized grids with speedy, Jira-like tables bring customizable columns, improved inline filters, infinite scroll, and deep links all to Jira Align. Portfolio leaders can find, edit, and report on epics and features at scale.

Strategic alignment: Connect intent and work

You can see the strategy, but can you connect it to the people doing the work and the cost of those allocated teams? When priorities shift, does everyone find out at the same time? These updates connect strategy, delivery, people, and cost signals all in one place, with automation to keep more connections up-to-date.

Platform: Projects. Projects is now available directly from the Atlassian app switcher. Stakeholders get a single, high-level view of initiatives with concise weekly updates, risks, and key decisions, all linked to focus areas in Focus. Stop chasing status updates! Now leaders see progress and blockers without digging through Jira.

Focus: Automations. Four new automation capabilities allow you to automatically link work to focus areas based on custom fields, and trigger Teams, Slack, and email alerts when strategy updates are posted. Plus, smart suggestions in Focus now make it easy to find related work to add to any focus area. All of this helps you keep strategy and execution in sync with less effort.

New automations for Focus

Talent: Universal HRIS connector. A new HR connector brings your workforce data from any HR system(s) securely into Strategy Collection through the Talent app. See up-to-date workforce signals alongside your strategy, making it easier to allocate the right people and positions to your priorities.

Focus & Talent: Labor rates. Define labor rate cards for your positions, with as much granularity as you need. Then see the annualized costs for each focus area. Slice labor costs by tenure, geography, or level. This is the first step toward connecting financials to delivery in Strategy Collection, with more financial management capabilities coming soon!

Jira Align: New roadmaps. A completely new roadmaps experience makes it easy to visualize upcoming work and milestones at every level of the hierarchy. Show focus area context directly in the roadmaps to connect strategy with PIs, programs, and portfolio epics. Now everyone can see how execution ties back to the big picture.

Define and measure goals: Run living reviews

Your organization likely runs – or wants to run – on OKRs, BHAGs (Big, Hairy, Audacious Goals), or quarterly objectives. But when your tooling forces everyone into the same rigid goal structure and key results are tracked in spreadsheets, monthly reviews devolve into “status theatre”. Nobody trusts the data fully, so nobody acts on it.

Platform: Goal types and success measures. Define goal types that match your framework: Objectives, BHAGs, or whatever your leadership team calls them. Add multiple success measures per goal. Each success measure can have its own owner, updates, and metrics. All of this data flows into Atlassian Analytics so you can build dashboards that show how your strategic outcomes are tracking over time. Set up goals within the right cadence, then track progress and drive action without manual rollups.

Enterprise operating model: Scale with confidence

Adoption shouldn’t stall at the security review. These updates help admins expand rollout without sacrificing control, meeting the governance, compliance, and permission requirements that your enterprise security and IT teams expect.

Focus: Permissions. Set who can view or edit at the object, owner, or field level. Share strategy with the whole org if you want, but keep sensitive details locked down. Get fine-grained controls for the data that matters most.

Focus: SOC2 + ISO27k compliance and TiDB. Enterprise-grade security and compliance now help IT and risk teams say “yes” faster.
