Today, more than 80 percent of Fortune 500 organizations use Atlassian products. In the wake of the pandemic, our enterprise customers have been forced to rethink how they run and operate their businesses. From our own experience and that of our customers, we recognize that now, more than ever, enterprises need to be agile to innovate and grow, managing increasingly stringent requirements ranging from security to reliability and change management.

It’s clear that our customers rely on cloud to quickly adapt to these changing business needs. More than 95 percent of new customers start with Atlassian cloud products, and more and more on-premise customers are making the switch to cloud.

We’re excited to announce the general availability of Cloud Enterprise, our most advanced cloud offering, specifically designed to meet the needs of our enterprise customers. In addition to all the advanced capabilities we provide with Cloud Premium, our new offering boasts enterprise-grade scale, security, and governance controls to allow our customers to standardize their various Jira Software, Confluence, and Jira Service Management deployments on a purpose-built cloud platform.

Cloud Enterprise addresses the five core needs of our enterprise customers:

  • Global scale with unlimited instances to allow teams to customize instances based on their needs
  • The highest standards of reliability with a guaranteed 99.95 percent uptime SLA and dedicated enterprise support
  • Enterprise-grade security and compliance to ensure safe, convenient access to Atlassian cloud products on any device while also meeting data privacy obligations across the globe
  • Powerful governance controls for user and change management at scale
  • Marketplace apps that meet enterprise needs for extensibility in the cloud

Let’s dive deeper into each of these capabilities.

Unleashing the potential of teams at a global scale

Adoption of Atlassian products typically starts at the team level. However, we often hear from our enterprise customers about the need to standardize the various team-level instances on one platform so they can efficiently scale. With Cloud Enterprise, we now offer customers the ability to not only standardize on one cloud platform that can scale on demand, but also set up multiple instances to support specific team needs. This means independent lines of business, regional teams, or acquired entities can maintain autonomy for their own product instances. Admins can also set up multiple instances to keep data pinned to different regions for compliance reasons, or customize instances with specific marketplace apps, project configurations, and more.

Customer focus

A leading healthcare company that relies on Jira Software and Confluence for mission-critical workflows – think coordinating complex supply chains for distributing COVID-19 vaccines – recently invested in Atlassian Cloud Enterprise to standardize onto one cloud platform, while offering their various business units the ability to customize instances based on workflows, apps, and more.

Features like smart links and app switcher for Jira and Confluence Cloud enable easy collaboration across instances. Cloud Enterprise also offers licensing flexibility, so customers can pay once and assign users to unlimited instances, confidently scaling usage across their teams. While we’re able to support any scale with unlimited instances, we continue to raise the per-instance user limit for customers who prefer to keep their users on one instance. We currently support up to 20,000 users per instance for our early access program customers, with plans to make this generally available later in the year.

Ensure reliability with a 99.95% SLA guarantee and a dedicated support team

Common scaling challenges for enterprises – and how cloud can help

Scaling globally doesn’t work if it comes at the expense of unplanned downtime. To ensure the highest standards of reliability, Atlassian Cloud Enterprise guarantees a 99.95 percent uptime SLA (which adds up to less than 21 minutes of downtime per month) that is financially backed. Enterprise Support includes 24/7 support with a 30-minute initial response time for critical issues, as well as phone support with a dedicated senior team.

Get enterprise-grade data security and compliance

Our customers trust us with their data, and we take that trust seriously. Security is an essential ingredient in our cloud products, with encryption in transit and at rest, as well as a slew of certifications including SOC-2, ISO 27001, and GDPR compliance. With the launch of Cloud Enterprise, we now offer data residency, which is the ability to pin data to a geographic realm. We currently support data residency for the United States and the European Union, with plans to expand support to additional regions including Australia, Canada, the United Kingdom, and Japan. What’s more, Cloud Enterprise includes Atlassian Access, which means features like single sign-on (SSO) support, audit logs, and enforced two-step verification are available at no additional cost.

Our roadmap is focused on continuing to meet enterprise-grade data security and compliance requirements by investing in advanced features, including bring-your-own-key (BYOK) edge data encryption. Stay tuned for more details in the coming months.

Streamline user management with powerful admin controls

To help admins more efficiently manage thousands of users spread across multiple products and instances, Cloud Enterprise includes a new centralized admin hub. Here, admins can assign users to instances, configure security policies, monitor usage trends, and much more. And built-in integrations with leading identity providers let customers automate user provisioning and de-provisioning, saving admins time and hassle.

Before I had six people that spent 90 percent of their time on “care and feeding” for the application. Now we can do it with one person, part time. It’s night-and-day better.

Speed access to innovation while effectively managing change

One of the primary benefits of standardizing on Atlassian’s cloud platform is faster access to innovative features, such as the recently introduced machine learning-powered “smarts” capabilities, which can go a long way to improve the end-user experience. But with change comes uncertainty, and admins need advanced controls to preview, test, and prepare end-users. Atlassian Cloud Enterprise offers a safe, isolated sandbox environment where production data can be cloned and upcoming changes can be tested. Features such as release tracks allow admins to batch releases to their production environment in a fixed two-week window so they can document changes and give users a heads up.

Do more with enterprise-ready Marketplace apps

To offer a robust ecosystem for our customers in the cloud, Atlassian continues to collaborate with our Marketplace partners, adding to the ever-growing list of cloud apps and integrations, which has now grown to over a thousand. And we’re working with creators of popular apps to offer the same assurances around support, security, and reliability that customers have come to expect from their Atlassian products.

For more than a decade, we’ve been providing world-class cloud software. Cloud Enterprise builds upon our past investments and reaffirms our focus on the cloud to ensure we’re meeting enterprise needs now and in the future.
