In Episode #24 of IBM ShortCuts Podcast Luis Suarez, a fellow Social Media Collective member, gives his top 5 tips for structuring a successful wiki:

  1. Have a welcome page
  2. Make a shared calendar
  3. Put together a who’s who page of team members
  4. Choose three topics for discussion/collaboration
  5. Don’t forget to add a section for resources and helpful links

These are great tips for getting your wiki started — especially #3, in my opinion, because it gets to the heart of using a wiki as a social tool. It gives people a reason to come to the wiki in the first place — to put information about themselves in the directory — and then they stay to collaborate.
