There are two key components to working together as a team. The content you create and the schedule you agree to have it done by. We’re excited to announce that our next major release, Team Calendars 2.4, unites your team schedule with the work you’re getting done in Confluence like never before – and it’s available for download now.

Create new calendars in the Confluence editor

Team Calendars is a perfect addition to your Team’s Space homepage or project dashboard – helping all of your teammates and key stakeholders stay on schedule. In Team Calendars 2.3, we took our first steps improving calendar management within the Confluence Editor. With the latest release, we’re picking up speed – making it easier to embed existing Team Calendars, and create new ones, all while editing your Confluence pages.

Team Calendars for Confluence Wiki - Insert Calendar

Start with the Insert menu

It’s likely that if you’re creating a new project plan page or team dashboard on a Confluence page, you’ll want to include a calendar that displays key milestones too. Before Team Calendars 2.4, this was a multi-step process that required you to switch back-and-forth between your ‘My Calendars’ view, where you were creating your calendars, and the Confluence page, where you were creating your content.

We’ve streamlined this process so you never have to leave the Confluence editor, enabling you to create your content and your schedule simultaneously.

Pro-Tip: Use macro Autocomplete to insert a calendar without picking up your mouse. Just type { and start typing ‘Team Calendars’. You can add a new or existing Team Calendar in no-time!

The goal for inserting Team Calendars within the Confluence editor was to mirror how you create calendars in the ‘My Calendars’ screen – empowering anyone to integrate their teams’ schedule within its content. When creating a new calendar from the editor, you’ll be given the option to embed the three different types of Team Calendars or import an existing calendar from your favorite personal calendaring tool.

Once you’ve inserted your new Events, People or Jira Calendar, Confluence will embed the Team Calendars macro onto the Confluence page. You can then make use of the macro property panel to further specify the parameters of your embedded Team Calendar. It’s even quick to add additional calendars, whether new or existing, helping you create calendar mashups.

Creating new Team Calendars from the Confluence editor is dead simple – integrating your team schedule with your content couldn’t be easier.

Adding existing calendars

Before Team Calendars 2.4, to add an existing Team Calendar, you needed to know the exact calendar by its name. However, now, we’ve made calendars more discoverable from the editor by making it easy to embed popular Team Calendars, as well as search for existing ones.

New embedded Team Calendars legend

Last, but certainly not least, we’ve added the option to include a legend that references your embedded Team Calendars. Adding a legend to your embedded calendar mashups is helpful in determining different calendars by color.

Also, each calendar listed in your legend is linked, making it easy to add the calendar to your ‘My Calendars’ view in a single click – a helpful step when you come across embedded calendars in a Confluence page that you want to track more regularly.
