In case you weren’t at Atlassian Summit last week, we announced the first public milestone of Confluence 4.0 through our Early Access Program (EAP). We are all really excited about this release and can’t wait to hear from you.
A while ago, I blogged about the importance of feedback in any development cycle. Throughout the last ten months, we’ve been dogfooding this release of Confluence and have received a lot of internal feedback. We’ve also been working with a few of our Partners to get the ball rolling on plugin compatibility for 4.0. We are now at a stage where we would love your input. With the announcement of the Confluence 4.0 EAP here is your chance to provide feedback, start preparing your team for what’s coming, and in doing so, help shape the product with us!
How can you help?
For End Users
The first thing you can do is to go and try the Confluence 4.0 EAP. As with every EAP, we don’t recommend you install this in production. However, you can easily download our simple Mac or Windows installers and try it out on your own computer. Once you’ve tried it out, be sure to let us know what you think! We’ve made it super easy to provide feedback, without having to leave the application. You will notice a small “Got Feedback?” button in your menu:
All the feedback you provide will go straight to the Confluence team. We can’t wait to hear from you.
We would love for you too to provide feedback as well. In addition, we are working on some guides to make your life easier in preparation for Confluence 4.0. We have a few online resources and FAQs that are already available at our Confluence 4 site.
We will continue to update this site with additional resources over the next coming, so be sure to watch that page.
If you’re feeling extra loving, we would love it if you did a upgrade in a test environment and let us know how it went. We’ve put together a quick guide on the various things you can do.
For Plugin Developers
Plugin developers – get ready! We’ve put together some guides on how you can upgrade your plugins and macros to 4.0.
Not only that, but we’ve created four new plugin points in the newConfluence 4 editor. These plugin points allow you to build simpler andricher plugins that are even more tightly integrated into the product.
You can learn all about this here. We can’t wait to see what you guys come up with!
So what are you waiting for?
All the information I’ve mentioned above, including links to the EAP download of Confluence 4.0 can be found here. Every few weeks we will publish another milestone EAP release, so make sure you keep an eye out on our Development Releases page to stay up to date.
