I’m happy to announce that starting today Codegeist 2009 is officially underway!
If you’ve never heard of Codegeist before it is Atlassian’s annual development contest where developers like you can win huge prize packages for building plugins and integrations to Atlassian products.
This year we will be awarding six prizes a Grand Prize winner and a Runner Up and four category winners from this list:
1. Best Cross-product Integration
2. Best Theme
4. OpenSocial Gadget
Of course at Atlassian we’re not much for the rules so if you think you have a better category, try us. You can still win the Grand Prize or Runner up.
Remember any plugin created after the close of Codegeist III, on May 9th 2008 is eligible. You can extend or enhance an existing plugin, just understand that you will be judged only on the additions you’ve made after May 9th 2008.
The reason Codegeist moved a little later than last year’s competition is so we could time the event with AtlasCamp – our premier conference for developers. This year the winners of Codegeist will be announced LIVE at AtlasCamp on October 21, 2009. You don’t have to be present at AtlasCamp to win, but it’ll sure be more fun!
We’ve been working hard on our plugin development framework in preparation for Codegeist IV. We encourage every developer, expert or newbie, to check out the new Atlassian SDK, use it for your new plugins and give us feedback. We hope that it provides a much improved method of building and testing Atlassian plugins.
Also don’t forget to use the Developer Forums to communicate with your peers, find team-members, ask questions, and publicize your awesome new plugin. The Developer Community is strong, and Codegeist is a wonderful chance to collaborate with other developers.
A special thank you to this year’s Codegeist Sponsors: Balsamiq, Gliffy, InfoQ, JetBrains, O’Reilly, Sysbliss, and YourKit. You guys rock!
One more thing, EVERY person who enters the Codegeist contest will be given a limited edition Codegeist IV t-shirt so enter today!
