Atlassian knows what it’s like to start out small. We began our life as a company in a tiny Sydney flat, founded by two classmates from university determined to forge a path different from their peers. The desire to do things differently still inspires us today, whether it comes from an established company reinventing itself or an up-and-comer with fresh ideas. So we’re delighted to announce the launch of Atlassian Ventures – a $50M fund focused on strengthening our ecosystem.
With the objective of supporting cloud-based products and services, Atlassian Ventures will invest in three types of companies.
- Early-stage startups building apps for any of Atlassian’s cloud products such as Jira, Confluence, Bitbucket, or Trello. We are focused on ensuring these teams have an opportunity to access funding, and hope to include both existing developers and those that are brand new to the Atlassian ecosystem in this category. In fact, we are thrilled to announce that Hipporello and Meetical are the first startups in this category to receive Atlassian Ventures funding. Keep these up-and-comers on your radar!
- Larger, more established ecosystem product partners scaling their businesses – similar to our investments in Zoom, Slack, InVision, process.st, and most recently with Split.io. These investments will be made in partnership with traditional venture capital firms.
- Members of our Atlassian Partner Program looking to augment their cloud services and/or create new products that support the future of work.
As more and more customers transition to our cloud products, we are committed to supporting their journey by fostering a robust ecosystem of cloud-based apps that enhance their experience and satisfy all use cases. We are incredibly proud of the 4,200+ apps already available in our Marketplace and the integrations we already offer with popular tools like Slack, Zendesk, and GitHub. But this is no time to rest on our laurels. Atlassian Ventures will facilitate our continued investment in the best-of-breed tools and integrations our customers need to fuel the next wave of innovation and manage their work, both now and into the future.
Similarly, we want to elevate the entrepreneurs who are betting big on us. Companies funded by Atlassian Ventures will receive mentorship from our executive team and global exposure at Atlassian events in addition to the capital they need to grow.
