Our friends at Tasktop have just published an awesome blog post about how developers can work more efficiently using the Atlassian Connector for Eclipse and Tasktop Pro.

The Atlassian Connector for Eclipse is an Eclipse plugin that allows developers to access Jira issue tracking, Bamboo continuous integration, Crucible code reviews and Fisheye source code links without leaving their IDE.
Tasktop Pro enhances Eclipse’s built-in Mylyn task-focused interface with additional productivity features and connection to external tools like email, calendars and more.
The blog post walks through a typical day for a developer, including

  • Reviewing a task list
  • Tracking time spent on tasks
  • Performing code review(s)
  • Triaging bugs
  • Investigating a broken build
  • Following up on emails

All of which are done right in the IDE! One of the coolest features is the ability to track context of a task, so that after you quickly react to an urgent issue (such as a broken build), it’s easier to make the context-switch back to what you were working on before.
