Software licenses entitle you to perpetual use, include 12 months maintenance of updates and support. Renewing maintenance is entirely optional.
What are agents and how do they differ?
An agent is a service that executes Bamboo builds. There are three types of agents:
- A local agent executes builds from within the Bamboo server itself
- A remote agent executes builds from a separate service, typically installed on a machine other than the Bamboo server
- An elastic agent is a remote agent running in the Amazon Elastic Compute Cloud (EC2)

How many agents do I need?
This depends on a number of factors, such as the number of projects and plans that you have, how often you run builds and the duration of each of your builds.
How do Elastic Agents affect my pricing?
An elastic agent is a remote agent running in the Amazon Elastic Compute Cloud (EC2). For Bamboo pricing purposes, each elastic agent is counted as one remote agent.
You will need an account with Amazon Web Services since EC2 pricing is separate, and not included with Bamboo.
