Fun & Philanthropy

As hard as we work to build great software tools, we also like to have fun, and give back.

You may have even seen Atlassians as we've celebrated our end-of-fiscal-year or holiday parties around Sydney, San Francisco and Amsterdam. Each year is a different adventure, from scavenger hunts to acrobat training to racing land sail-carts.

Fun sometimes takes a different form as Atlassians spend time volunteering for their favorite charities. Every employee can take up to five paid days off to volunteer at a charity of their choice, and often people recruit coworkers to help. Lots of stuff to choose from: running 5k races for charity, beach and trail cleanups, building houses, volunteering in soup kitchens, growing mustaches and more.

Independence Days

Atlassian FedEx Day and 20% Time are two outlets for our developers to express their creativity with independence!

"FedEx Day" is time set aside for developers to work on whatever they want, with a skew towards our products, and deliver something fresh and different in 24 hours.

Atlassian 20% Time is "innovation" time for the engineers. They may use 20% of their time to work on their own innovative ideas and see their work reflected back into the core of the product. Our hope is that 20% Time gives engineers back dedicated slack time – of their own direction – to spend on product innovation, features, plugins, fixes or additions that they think are the most important.

Ballin'

We got game. And music. And Wii Karts.

Regardless of which office people work from, we like to work and play and compete on a united front.

Drop by one of our offices and you might catch us betting on a mid-day game of Texas Hold'em, expanding our Settlers of Catan empires, racing our Mario Karts, or jamming on Rock Band. Or, you might find us out back in a pick up game of soccer, basketball or softball.

The Five Rules We Live By

Our core values are what we look for in each and every employee, and they're what keep Atlassian from being just another ordinary company.
