As more industries think software first, the need to modernize the way teams work becomes critical. For development teams, investments in agile practices and distributed version control systems improve the quality of code, boost collaboration, and help them release more often. However, keeping up with development’s trajectory becomes more challenging for IT operations teams and can lead to communication breakdowns and “the blame game.”

To break down barriers and foster trust between these teams, a culture of shared responsibility is essential. Enter DevOps, a culture where development (dev) and operations (ops) collaborate to build a faster, more reliable release pipeline.

Atlassian tools are central to how thousands of teams facilitate their DevOps practices, strengthening collaboration across teams, improving visibility, and ultimately, breaking down silos. This is why we’re both the culture and collaboration layer of DevOps.

Today we’re excited to announce new investments to help customers accelerate their DevOps adoption.

For Atlassian enterprise customers looking to consolidate their DevOps solutions, we’re introducing the Atlassian Stack. And, with so many investments in DevOps tooling over the past few years, combined with our presence in both the software and IT markets, we’re excited to announce the world’s largest DevOps marketplace. For enterprise customers looking to go all-in on Atlassian, and teams of all sizes looking for complementary tools that fill in the DevOps cycle, read on, we’ve got you covered.

The Atlassian Stack – an enterprise DevOps solution

Enterprise organizations often struggle from deep-rooted silos across various teams, silos that are exacerbated by disparate tools. How does IT operations know when the next release is scheduled? Has it gone through rigorous security checks? What happens if your team has to respond to 2 A.M. alerts, do they have the right context?

Adopting a cultural shift in how development teams and IT operations teams work together is often the first step in moving to DevOps. At some point, however, information and tool sharing become critical to long-term success.

Many Enterprise customers rely on Atlassian to break down barriers between development teams and IT operations teams. Deep integrations between our products improve communication, automate work, and help provide visibility across the organization. In fact, almost half of customers with 500 or more users own 3 or more Atlassian products. For enterprise customers looking to centralize and consolidate DevOps tooling, look no further than the Atlassian Stack.

atlassian stack

The Atlassian Stack includes one instance of each of our Data Center and Server products, as well as a Premier Support license, for one simple price. Co-terming everything you use from Atlassian for less? We call that a win-win for our enterprise customers.

Here’s how one customer uses Atlassian tools for their DevOps process:

Bringing in Jira Service Desk first, the operations team used it to better capture and manage customer support. By connecting it with Jira Software, they’re able to link a development task to the original service desk issue and close the customer feedback loop. Their development team uses Jira Software to plan, prioritize, and track work, and integrate it with Bitbucket so their developers can easily jump into the code base from the issue. All progress is visible – branches, commits, and builds – keeping the entire team informed of work in progress. Once code is committed, Bamboo starts to automatically run builds against changes. Development can deploy code through Bamboo or Jira Software, where they have a complete snapshot of the overall health of a release. They also use Hipchat to keep their teams connected and practice ChatOps – using Hipchat they can pipe in updates from all Atlassian products (and marketplace integrations) in real-time to stay on top of work or swarm to resolve major incidents.

With the Atlassian Stack, enterprise customers can now maximize their Atlassian value while implementing a DevOps solution.

Atlassian is the only company that can get Dev and Ops on the same platform.

The world’s largest DevOps marketplace

Because of Atlassian’s position in software and IT markets, our tools are part of thousands of teams’ DevOps toolchains. It’s no wonder nearly every other leading vendor in the DevOps space offers an integration or add-on with our tools. We’re excited to launch the world’s largest DevOps marketplace with more than 200 add-ons and integrations to let teams custom fit Atlassian to their workflow. The DevOps marketplace helps improve collaboration, automate processes, and let every team member work where they’re most comfortable and productive.

Connecting all the people, teams, and tools to build and run software removes friction and increases efficiency. Whether it’s connecting your team’s agile development software to your testing automation suite, or your chat tool with your critical event monitoring system, integrated tools ensure that the right people are always up to date and have the right details to get the job done quickly. Popular tools like AppDynamics, Splunk, and Sauce Labs connect with Atlassian to allow you to automatically create or update Jira tickets, send ChatOps alerts in a Hipchat room, and automate tests from Bamboo builds.

Splunk’s integrations with Atlassian products, like Jira, Jira Service Desk, and Hipchat, deliver foundational solutions for successful DevOps practices. Our joint customers benefit from these bi-directional integrations through increased transparency, improved reliability, and faster development by sharing relevant data across the entire team, automatically.

-Andi Mann, Chief Technology Advocate and DevOps expert from Splunk.

As investments in DevOps technology continue to grow – IDC expects the DevOps tool market to double in size over the next four years to a nearly $4B industry – we anticipate an even greater number of integrations with Atlassian tools.

Integrating with Atlassian is an easy way to introduce new solutions to our customers that support and expand their DevOps initiatives. We’ll continue building out our portfolio of integrations with Atlassian so together we can continue to give customers unparalleled visibility into application issues, allowing them to recover faster and ultimately spend more time innovating and driving business outcomes.

-Matt Chotin, Senior Director, Director Initiatives of AppDynamics.

Extend the Atlassian DevOps toolchain with integrations for alerting, build management, containerization, infrastructure automation, monitoring, release management, SCM, and more. Atlassian’s partnerships with key DevOps technology players helps teams automate processes, improve collaboration and build better software faster.

New to DevOps? We’ve got you covered

The journey to DevOps is unique for each team. Some teams might be adopting continuous integration, others might be making the move to a distributed version control system like Git, but taking a cue from the Agile Manifesto we think the first place to invest in your DevOps journey is with people. Building a culture of shared responsibility and trust is a core ingredient for any successful DevOps implementation.
