We’re happy to announce the release of Bamboo 2.0, the latest version of our continuous integration server!
This release introduces the ability to run distributed builds. You will find this particularly useful if you need to run your builds in different geographic locations, or on different platforms. Simply install the new Bamboo Agent on your additional build servers, and your main Bamboo 2.0 server will be able to manage them. We have also provided a number of plugin points in case you need to control your distributed builds programatically.

Build Your Software Faster with Atlassian Bamboo 2.0
Latest release includes distributed builds, performance enhancements

San Francisco, CA (Business Wire) April 14th, 2008
— Atlassian today announced the release of Bamboo 2.0, the latest version of its continuous integration server. This major release most notably includes the ability to run “distributed builds” — the ability to allow for builds on different servers and platforms — and 160+ other improvements.
More than a conventional continuous integration (CI) server, Bamboo provides Build Telemetry to help identify and highlight trends, patterns, and linkages across builds — not just focusing on the results of a single build. Bamboo monitors project health and team performance, giving users results at a glance as well as providing tools for detailed trend analysis.
Distributed Builds in Bamboo now allow for builds to run in different geographic locations and on different platforms. For development teams running multiple builds, this will dramatically speed up the time it takes for the builds to be completed.
“Distributed builds are like having Bamboo on steroids. No longer will teams have to have to wait in line for their project to be built,” notes Mark Chaimungkalanont, lead developer for Bamboo. “Installation is super easy and we have also provided a number of plugin points in case you need to control your distributed builds programmatically.”
Additional highlights include:
* Increased performance: The underlying engine for Bamboo has been revamped to decrease memory usage. Performance is greatly improved, especially for very large logs.
* Bamboo plugin for Confluence: View all your project’s criticial build information in your Confluence wiki.
* Force a ‘clean build’: Delete the old working files and perform a new checkout of the entire source code directory, before commencing a build.
* Quiet period functionality for Subversion and Perforce: You can choose to set how long Bamboo should wait after a commit before triggering a build, and the number of times it retries before initiating a build.
* Support for Oracle, MS SQL Server: By popular request, Bamboo now supports Oracle and MS SQL Server databases.
* Plus over 160 other improvements!
Over 550 customers use Bamboo for continuous integration including Microsoft, Motorola, Nokia, Cisco and the BBC. To learn more or for a free 30-day evaluation, please visit: http://www.atlassian.com/software/bamboo/?s_kwcid=bamboo20
