Using a field screen in views

Once you have created a new field screen you will now need to activate it by adding it to a screen scheme and associating the scheme to a project or issue type.

The method of activation differs for each edition. Standard edition only supports the default screen scheme so all field screens are activated by adding it to the default screen scheme. Professional edition allows for project specfic field screen schemes and Enterprise edition supports field screen schemes per project per issue type.

For professional and enterprise editions it is also possible to activate a field screen by adding it to a transition screen.

Issue Operations to Screen Associations

Field Screen Schemes are used to add a field screen to an issue operation view. By using a scheme you are able to associate a different screen to each operation for a particular issue type or project. The available issue operations are:

  • Create Issue - the Create Issue Details Screen
  • Edit Issue - the Edit Issue Screen
  • View Issue - the issue summary table on the View Issue Screen
    Note
    The View Issue field screen only applies to custom fields

To access this functionality you need to access the Configure Field Screen Scheme Interface:

  1. Login as a user with global administrator access.
  2. Bring up the administration page by clicking either on the "Administration" link on the top bar or the title of the Administration box on the dashboard:

  3. Click the "Issue Fields" sub-menu on the left hand side if it is not open already, and choose "Field Screen Schemes" from the list.
    1. For professional and enterprise editions you will be brought to the "View Field Screen Schemes" page.
    2. Click on the link "Screens" next to the screen scheme you want.
  4. You will now be brought to the Configure Field Screen Scheme page.

Associate an Issue Operation to a Field Screen

  1. The "Add Issue Operation to Screen Association" is located at the bottom of the configure screen scheme page.
  2. Select an issue operation you wish to associate a field screen with.
  3. Select the desired field screen.
  4. Click the "Add" button and the new association will be added to the association list above.
Note
There can only be one association for a issue operation per screen scheme. If all operations have been associated you will see this message displayed "In this scheme all issue operations have an association with a screen. Use the 'Edit' link next to each operation to change its screen."

Edit an Association

  1. Click on the "Edit" link next to the issue operation you wish to edit.
  2. You will be brought to the "Edit Screen Scheme Item" page.
  3. Select the screen you wish to change this association to.
  4. Click on the "Update" button and you will be returned to the screen scheme page.

Delete an Association

  1. Click on the "Delete" link next to the issue operation you wish to remove.
  2. The association will be automatically removed from the table.

Field Screen Schemes

In Professional and Enterprise editions it is possible to create multiple Field Screen Schemes, in Standard edition you can only edit the Default Field Screen Scheme. The field screen scheme operations are available from the View Field Screen Schemes page.

  1. Login as a user with global administrator access.
  2. Bring up the administration page by clicking either on the "Administration" link on the top bar or the title of the Administration box on the dashboard:

  3. Click the "Issue Fields" sub-menu on the left hand side if it is not open already, and choose "Field Screen Schemes" from the list.
  4. This will bring you to the "View Screen Schemes Page".

Add a Field Screen Scheme

  1. The "Add Screen Scheme" form is located at the bottom of the Field Sceen Schemes Page.
  2. Enter the name of the new field screen.
  3. You can optionally add a description of the field screen.
  4. Select a default field screen. The default screen will be used for views that do not have an association.
  5. Click on the "Add" button. The screen will automatically update the field screen schemes list with the new field screen scheme.

Edit a Field Screen Scheme

  1. Click on the "Edit" link next to the selected field screen scheme.
  2. You will now be directed to the "Edit Screen Scheme" page where you can edit the field screen scheme name and description and default screen.
  3. Click on the "Update" button.
  4. You will be brought back to the Field Screen Schemes Page with your updates now applied to the field screen schemes list.

Delete a Field Screen Scheme

  1. Click on the "Delete" link next to the field screen scheme you wish to delete.
  2. Click on the "Delete" button to confirm this action.
  3. You will be brought back to the Field Screen Schemes Page with the field screen scheme removed from the field screen schemes list.

Note
Field screen schemes that are associated with a project(professional) or a issue type screen scheme (enterprise) cannot be deleted.

Copy a Field Screen Scheme

  1. Click on the "Copy" link next to the field screen you wish to copy.
  2. You will now be directed to the "Copy Screen Scheme" page.
  3. Enter the field screen scheme name and description of the new field screen scheme.
  4. Click on the "Copy" button.
  5. You will be brought back to the Field Screen Schemes Page and the newly added field screen scheme will have the same field settings as the original field screen scheme.

Associating a Screen Scheme to Project (Professional Edition)

  1. Login as a user with global administrator access.
  2. Bring up the administration page by clicking either on the "Administration" link on the top bar or the title of the Administration box on the dashboard:

  3. On the administration page is a list of projects which this user is allowed to manage. Select the project of interest.
  4. Click on the "Select Scheme" link on the beside the Screen Scheme caption.

  5. Select the screen scheme you wish to associate with this project.

  6. Click on the "Associate" button.

Issue Type Screen Schemes (Enterprise Edition)

To activate a screen scheme using Enterprise edition you must create an Issue Type Screen Scheme.
