GreenHopper 5.9

Over the past six months the GreenHopper team has been working on a revitalised user experience for GreenHopper. In GreenHopper 5.9 we are inviting you to give it a try if you are a Scrum team.

This new user experience, and lots of new functionality for Scrum and Kanban teams, has been released incrementally via GreenHopper Labs. Customer feedback is driving our development. So, be sure to upgrade to GreenHopper 5.9, try the Rapid Board and provide feedback!

Getting Started

Every new Agile teams want to start building a backlog quickly so we've introduced the Getting Started screen. A new user can find Scrum and Kanban resources and an administrator can quickly create a new board using the Kanban or Scrum presets.

With the DIY (do it yourself) option, teams have the ability to fully customise their board.

Getting Started with GreenHopper 5.9 is quick and easy with Scrum and Kanban presets

Next Sprint Planning

A product owner can start planning the next sprint by ordering stories in the backlog and setting the sprint marker at the teams historical velocity. This will give the product owner an indication of how many stories will be completed in the upcoming sprint.

Sprints can incorporate stories from one or more JIRA Projects enabling one team to, for instance, plan work for multiple products or clients.

GreenHopper allows teams to plan across multiple projects, products, customers and plan future sprints with the sprint marker

Story Point Burndown Chart

The ScrumMaster will want to keep an eye on the burndown chart as it will show how the team is progressing towards the sprint goal, and whether the team will meet the commitment they made.

Teams often visualise the burndown chart alongside other product metrics or support data on their JIRA Wallboard.

GreenHopper provides the team an early warning indicator if the sprint is not going to plan via the story point burndown chart

JIRA 5 Ready

Of course, GreenHopper 5.9 is also compatible with JIRA 5.0. For a full introduction to JIRA 5.0 please see the JIRA 5.0 Release Notes.

Rapid Board for Kanban

This release introduces the Rapid Board, a flexible new board for managing and reporting on work in progress.

Rapid Views have preset Swimlanes and Quick Filters for Kanban teams.

Support for Multiple Projects

The Rapid Board uses a JIRA filter, or saved search, to pull cards into each Rapid Viewd. This allows you to use JIRA Query Language (JQL) to view issues across any number of projects in JIRA.

Powerful Filtering

Defining custom Quick Filters and Swimlanes for each Rapid View is simple. JQL's autocomplete entry fields ensure no query language experience is required – even for the more complex queries.

New Control Charts

The Rapid Baord includes a new control chart to measure cycle and lead time for issues across your projects.
