The Latest and Greatest Features

Agile Defect Prevention

Atlassian Bonfire 2.1 makes everyone a professional when it comes to reporting bugs. In this release we introduce a revamped annotation tool, a JQL clause to find issues raised during test sessions, and Bonfire now allows multiple issues to be related to a test session.

Multiple Related Issues in a Test Session

Teams with limited QA people may focus on testing only the high risk user stories. Create a test session which links to multiple issues - those high risk user stories - and focus on these. Of course this is isn't just for high risk user stories, pick any set of issues you wish.

You can also raise bugs as a sub-task of one of these related issues to keep track of the quality of individual user stories.

Brilliant Annotations

The annotation tool has been completely rewritten making it quick and painless for anyone to annotate a screenshot. You can now:

  • Move, resize and delete annotations
  • Change the colour of an annotation
  • Blur with perfection and resize as required
  • Add text that is easy on the eyes

Quickly annotate screenshots and report a bug with Atlassian Bonfire

Raised During JQL Clause

Search via the Issue Navigator for all issues raised during a specific test session using the "Raised During" JQL clause. Aggregate results from a number of test sessions or compare the quality of releases over time.

For instance, you may want to measure your effectiveness at Agile defect prevention and identify how many bugs were raised internally before release versus those that were raised by customers. With the "Raised During" JQL clause you can now create a Dashboard that tracks this.

Test Together

Atlassian Bonfire 2.0 connects people and teams involved in software development. Bring QA and developers closer together, and get anyone exploring your web application creating quality JIRA issues.

Share & Join Sessions

Collaborate with teammates using Bonfire Test Sessions, the central forum in JIRA to track activity while testing a particular story or requirement. Anyone viewing the session can see who is participating, and you can find and join shared sessions from within JIRA or from within the browser extension.

Revamped UI

Test Sessions and the Bonfire experience within JIRA has gotten a facelift. The browser extension has an updated look and feel, making it easier to find and share templates with your team.

Color Picker Annotation Tool

Screenshots are a great way to communicate with others, and Bonfire 2 adds several new color options for all your annotations!

QA Innovation

Leading up to the Bonfire 2 release, Atlassian ran a 13-part blog series raising awareness about testing innovation within the QA community. You can find all the posts in the series under the QA innovation tag, including thoughts from several viewpoints on

  • Connecting Development to QA
  • Bug Investigation
  • Beyond the Individual Tester

New Features since 1.0

With releases every few weeks, it can be hard to keep up. Some of the other highlights since Bonfire 1.0 include:

  • Shared Templates
  • Session Notes
  • Filtering Sessions
  • Creating sub-tasks within the browser extension

Share Variables

Variables let you insert dynamic information into your templates. Using Javascript, Bonfire can dynamically capture information such as browser info or page title when you create an issue.

With Bonfire 1.9, share these variables with your team, so everyone can consistently capture all the right context details when they create an issue - without needing to learn Javascript!

Share & Favorite Templates

Templates speed up data entry and ensure quality bug reports with pre-populated data, context & structure. Bonfire 1.9 adds variable sharing, so you can create templates with variables once and share them with your entire team.
