Session details
1. In what locations is training held?
Sessions are delivered to customers worldwide via a web seminar. Our trainers are located in Sydney and San Francisco.
2. How long does the training session run for?
Training sessions run for approximately 3 hours including question time.
3. Is there a break during the session?
Yes, a short break is available at the end of each hour.
4. How many sessions will I receive when I purchase Organization training?
Each item purchased entitles you to one training session only.
5. Is a recording of the session available?
We no longer offer recordings of training sessions.
6. Will my organization be the only party attending the session?
Organization level sessions are delivered to a single organization, and Individual sessions can include attendees from other organizations.
7. If I purchase a training package, do I need to take all training sessions at the same time?
No, each training session may be scheduled at a different time. We recommend your team schedule your training sessions over a few days to gain the most benefit.
8. In what languages is training offered?
Currently we only offer training in English.
9. How do you deal with training when we have several locations worldwide?
We offer training at the Organization level to allow customers to schedule training at a time that is convenient for them, or we offer Individual level training sessions to allow individuals to participate in a session suited to their own time zone.
10. Do you offer certification for your courses?
At this stage we do not offer certification for our training courses, but this is something that we are working on and hope to release in the near future. We'll continue to update our website as further information becomes available, so please check back often.
Scheduling, ordering and payment
1. Can I schedule my training session or reserve a timeslot prior to paying the invoice?
If you are attending an Individual training session, you can view the schedule for upcoming training courses. If you purchase an Organisation training session the schedule is more flexible, but to ensure a fair scheduling system for all of our customers, our policy is not to reserve timeslots until we receive full payment for the training session. Once we have confirmed payment, a member of our training team will contact you to discuss a convenient time to deliver your session.
2. Is the Fundamentals course a prerequisite for the advanced courses?
Whilst the Fundamentals course is not a prerequisite, we strongly recommend that you purchase both courses for your team and attend the Fundamentals course prior to participating in an advanced course.
3. Does Atlassian offer any discounts for training?
Atlassian does not offer any discounts for training. We like to build discounts directly into the prices we publish openly to everyone so there's no guessing or uncertainty around what you're buying and how much it costs. For customers interested in two or more courses, we do offer Discounted Packages.
4. What is the usual delay between ordering a training course and attending the session?
The lead time for your session will vary on the demand and availability of our trainers. Courses are generally delivered within 30 days of receiving payment.
5. Where can I find a schedule of Individual sessions for non-US time zones?
The schedule for non-US time zones (including European, Australian, etc) is quite flexible, and will be scheduled using a similar method to Organisation sessions. Once we receive payment, our training team will contact you to schedule a convenient time for your session. Courses are generally delivered for non-US time zones within 30 days of receiving payment.
6. How far in advance can I schedule my session?
You can schedule your training session for any date up to 6 months after payment of the training session.
7. If we need to cancel our session after ordering, can we arrange a refund?
All customers may cancel their order within 30 days of purchase for a full refund of the purchase price, as long as a session has not been scheduled. After 30 days from the payment date or after the session has been scheduled, no refunds will be provided.
8. If we receive our session within 30 days of the purchase date and are unhappy, can we arrange a refund?
We make every effort to meet Atlassian's commitment of Legendary Service in the training department, and if you are unhappy with your training session then we'll do our best to meet your expectations. We generally will not provide a refund of the purchase price, but we are happy to assist by discussing your specific training needs.
9. Once I've purchased training, how long will I have to schedule the session?
Organisation sessions can be scheduled for delivery on any date within 6 months of the payment date.
10. Can payment for training be included in our monthly invoice for hosted products?
Since training is a once-off payment, training course purchases must be processed as a separate invoice to hosted products.
11. Once I have purchased a session, am I allowed to change courses or upgrade to an Organisation session?
You are able to upgrade the course at any time, as long as your session is delivered within 6 months of the original payment date. When upgrading, you will need to pay any difference in price.
Agenda and training content
1. Are the Fundamentals courses targeted towards first time users?
The Fundamentals courses are designed to be beneficial for all attendees from first time users to administrators. They cover an extensive range of features in the product, and provide a solid foundation for anyone who wishes to gain a better understanding of the product.
2. Is there any required order in which to take training courses?
We recommend taking the Fundamentals training course before attending a more advanced training course (such as Confluence Administrators), although this is not a requirement. There is no recommendation for you to attend the JIRA Administrators training course before attending JIRA Workflows, since the Workflows training course covers slightly different topics.
3. What is the recommended order of taking the JIRA training courses?
We suggest taking JIRA Fundamentals, JIRA Administrators then the JIRA Workflows course, although there is no requirement for you to follow this order.
4. Which version of the product is covered in the training course?
Prior to the session a member of the training team will contact you to ask which version of JIRA or Confluence you are running. Unless requested otherwise, sessions are conducted using one of the latest versions available.
5. Are we allowed to customise the agenda?
We are happy to provide you with a detailed agenda prior to your session. If you have any specific questions please send your request to training@atlassian.com prior to the session.
6. Will I receive a copy of the slides from the training course?
PDF copies of the PowerPoint slides used in the session will be made available prior to your training session.
7. Is there an all inclusive training for Confluence and JIRA?
There are currently no plans to offer a combined course for both products.
8. Can we split up training?
The agenda for the each training course has been defined to be delivered as a single session and cannot be split up into smaller sessions.
9. Can the training session be structured around our own product deployment?
All our training courses demonstrate generic examples with the aim of letting the audience understand the basic features and concepts, applicable to any implementation (customised or not). In the past we have had very few concerns from customers who have customised the product heavily.
10. We still feel that customised training is more suited to our organisation, how can we organise this?
You can obtain customised training through the Atlassian Partner network.
11. Are custom training sessions more expensive?
You will need to contact an Atlassian Partner directly for specific pricing details.
12. Do you provide training for products other than JIRA and Confluence?
Training is currently available only for JIRA and Confluence. If you require training for another product, you can contact an Atlassian partner to organise custom training.
13. Is the Theme Builder plugin by Adaptavist covered in the training session?
The Theme Builder plugin is not covered in any course. If you need assistance with this plugin, please contact Adaptavist to learn more about their training offerings.
Setup
1. Will each attendee need to use a computer during the training session?
Individual attendees should bring a pen and paper to the session, but will not need to use a computer. In fact, we recommend that attendees do not bring a computer to the session as it may be distracting.
2. Will you need access to our installation for the training session?
No. Sessions are delivered using a demonstration instance of JIRA or Confluence installed at Atlassian.
3. Will we need to have the product installed before we attend the training session?
This is entirely up to you. The course material makes no assumption about prior experience with the product and we do not rely on the attendees having seen the product prior to attending a session.
4. We have a very large number of people attending. What is the maximum number of connections that we can have to the session?
For large groups attending the session from the same location we recommend that you have a single connection from a conference room rather than muiple connections. The maximum number of connections for an organisation level session is 999. For an individual session you are limited to single connection per session ordered.
Attendees
1. What are the experience requirements for participating in the training?
Each course has different requirements for knowledge of the participants. The Fundamentals course doesn't not assume any prior experience in the product, and is a recommended first step in training all users, from first time users to administrators.
2. Is it a requirement for the training that the team have a working business process in place?
If you do not have a working process in place or you are new to JIRA or Confluence, the training will serve as a useful guide for you to develop your own process.
3. Will I be able to ask questions during the session?
We strongly encourage all training participants to ask questions at any time during the session. Our trainers are product experts and will do their best to answer all your questions during the session. If we are unable to answer a question, the trainer will follow up with you after the session.
4. What is the process for customers to follow up with questions for the trainer?
You may contact training@atlassian.com with any enquiries. If the question is more technical in nature we'll assist you by passing the request over to our support team.

1. Is there a limit on the number of connections allowed in GoToWebinar?
The maximum number of connections for an organisation level session is 999. For an individual session you are limited to single connection per session ordered.
2. Are we able to purchase a recording for our session?
We no longer offer recordings of training sessions.
3. What is the recommended connection speed for the session?
Although we have not tested extensively on different connection speeds, GoToWebinar recommends a 512K connection.
4. What are the system requirements for attending a training session?
