Intern Atlassian – Summer 2012
From June to August 2012, Atlassian will host six top-tier college students specializing in software development and user experience to collaborate with each other and Atlassian's dev gods. The challenge is to push a whole new product or a major product plugin through its entire lifecycle, from concept to launch. This project will support Atlassian's mission to create a product that will make the life of developers better.
Selected students will split their time between a beach house in Sydney, Australia near Atlassian headquarters and in the heart of Silicon Valley at Atlassian's brand spankin' new San Francisco office. You'll be mentored by some of the brightest minds in the industry in product management, design, development, build and testing, and marketing.
Sydney? San Francisco? Yes please!!
Spend your summer jet-setting between the sister cities of Sydney and San Francisco. In June Atlassian will fly you downunder to spend one month living in a beach house in Sydney, then back to SF for the final 6 weeks of the program, where we'll put up any non-local interns in our corporate apartments.
While in Sydney, you'll spend time working from both your beach house and in Atlassian's HQ, right in the Central Business District in downtown Sydney.
Finishing out your stint in SF's SoMa neighborhood, you'll have access to some of the best minds in software in Silicon Valley.
The Project – Concept to Launch
Atlassian makes tools that help great teams build great software. More than 17,000 companies and millions of users manage their software projects using our issue tracking, collaboration and software development tools. Our customers range from bootstrapped startups to well known companies like Facebook, NASA, and Pixar.
Your challenge is to create a solution that will help your fellow developers worldwide develop better, faster and smarter.
The Experience
"Atlassians truly "walk the walk" in terms of the company values...resulting in an exciting, interesting and productive experience! Everyone has been incredibly friendly – introducing themselves at the beer cart, showing me work they have done that relates to my project, and offering to chat with me about their jobs over lunch. Anyone who has been an intern knows this is not the default experience, but rather an exceptional one."
– Nikki Holzberg, Intern
You
You're a whip-smart CS or UX major with a propensity to hack. In your free time you fantasize with your coder friends about creating the next best product and you hash out basic architecture for fun. You are comfy as a front-end or back-end developer, or live & breathe design, or consistently find yourself championing products from a technical bent.
You aren't looking for "just" a summer job. You want to learn from the best, gain priceless experience creating useful products, and have a darn good time getting paid to do it in two of the most beautiful cities in the world.
Apply
Please submit your cover letter and resume. Your cover letter will include why you'd like to spend your summer as an Atlassian, and what you'd like to learn along the way. Your resume reflects your overall excitement for everything technical, and demonstrates that you have the chops to jump in with both feet to collaborate with your team to create a kick-ass product.
We can't wait to hear from you!
