Atlassian - Beyond JIRA: Progress Report

From bugs to builds

With Bamboo and JIRA, you can monitor the progress and health of your software development project. Together, they give you a bird's eye view of your projects. Then, when you need to, you can drill down into the detail of each issue and associated build.

Bamboo is a continuous integration server that automates the repetitive task of building your software, and JIRA is Atlassian's powerful issue tracker. The free Bamboo plugin for JIRA links the products together. Together, JIRA and Bamboo give you a way to:

  • Keep track of how different builds are related to issues
  • See immediately if a build affecting your issue has failed
  • Get the good news on which builds passed
  • Link to detailed build information

See build progress in JIRA

Within the JIRA dashboard, you can insert Bamboo's "build telemetry" data — graphs showing you trends in your projects' builds.

  • Build duration.
  • Number of successes or failures per build
  • How your builds are progressing over time

Link between builds, issues and projects

  • If your commit message contains a JIRA issue, Bamboo will link to it, making it easy to hop from Bamboo to the issue in JIRA
  • Within JIRA, you can view builds in the Related Builds tab
  • Instantly access any other related builds for the same issue

Keep watch over your build plans!

List all build plans on your JIRA dashboard.

  • Access build plans with one click
