Fun & feisty: Of pirates and perks.
As hard as we work to build great software tools, we also like to have some fun.
Atlassian FedEx Day and 20% Time are two other outlets for our developers to express their creativity.
"FedEx Day" is time set aside for developers to work on whatever they want, with a skew towards our products, and deliver something fresh and different in 24 hours.
Atlassian 20% Time is "innovation" time for the engineers. They may use 20% of their time to work on their innovative ideas and see their work reflected back into the core of the product. Our hope is that 20% Time gives engineers back dedicated slack time — of their own direction — to spend on product innovation, features, plugins, fixes or additions that they think are the most important.

We've grown. And grown. And grown. The company has seen phenomenal growth in the last 7 years. But revenue and profit alone are not how a company is judged. It's also judged on the people that join and the culture it fosters. We're looking for 32 talented engineers — from front end UX developers to back end Java engineers — to help us continue to build upon our success.
We recognize that we're in a unique position. In the face of the global financial crisis, most companies have ceased changing. By staying on par, they hope to ride out the GFC. However, we think differently. The GFC is a great opportunity to find some rock stars to help us get to the next level.
Foundation: 1% model to give back to charity.
The Atlassian Foundation is driven by our employees' concerns and interests around improving our society and environment. Our Foundation is based on a 1% model that dedicates:
- 1% of company and employee time to Foundation projects (5 paid days to work at a charity of your choice)
- 1% of company equity to the Foundation to sponsor projects such as Room to Read
- 1% of our products to non-profit groups such as Unicef and Amnesty International
